Research Ethics Support and Review in Research Organisations

Ethics review in medical, health and social care research has a distinctive nature and context, and is supported by the unified national governance system (https://www.hra.nhs.uk/). There is no similar unified approach to ethics review in universities and other research organisations. Research Ethics Support and Review in Research Organisations aims to provide guidance which might lead to a more unified approach.

It is the outcome of a development project under the auspices of the UK Research Integrity Office (UKRIO) and the Association of Research Managers and Administrators (ARMA). There are two versions of the guidance – the full version and a shorter one which provides a summary of the main points. The document provides a wide range of guidance from understandings of ethics principles to processes and procedures of research ethics review.
